My Column/Lekhni-May-June 17

‘General, man is very useful.
He can fly and he can kill.
But he has one defect:
He can think. ‘
-Bertolt Brecht
But even this thinking and sensible man falters and falters badly.
Love and War are quite alike in lot of ways. In both situations one falls blindfolded forgetting everything else, even itself. In both situations, there is no greater place for damage because there is no greater place for glory. Poets and thinkers have mused on the subject since time immemorial with their powerful pen and brushes. We have tried to capture the gist of the thought by a wide range of the work from the very ancient to the very modern: Right back to Ovid to some very contemporary poets indeed. Hope the readers will enjoy this unique assemble.
Readers feedback is always eagerly awaited

Theme of the next issue of Lekhni is ‘ Books’ . We invite all book lovers to share their feelings in a creative form or a write up on their favourite book. All original and genuine creations are welcome. Last day of submission is June 20th at shailagrawal@hotmail.com

Enjoy a good read and have a fruitful summer!

Shail Agrawal.
