My Column
Human life is a continuation of the death of old and birth of new, hence separation a compulsory process of life. Though painful at that moment, even death has not got enough power to part. ‘ Parting’ for me and many before me, is a deep rooted faith and hope that we will meet again in new forms, at new places, specially if it is from somebody, we loved and cared deeply.
Let’s also read what great minds say on the word and subject:
To say goodbye is to die a little.” ― Raymond Chandler, The Long Goodbye.
“Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.”― Kahlil Gibran
A pain stabbed my heart, as it did every time I saw a girl I loved who was going the opposite direction in this too-big world.” ― Jack Kerouac, On the Road
“Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow.” ― William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet.
I don’t know how you say good-bye to whom and what you love. I don’t know a painless way to do it, don’t know the words to capture a heart so full and a longing so intense.” ― Laura Wiess, How it ends
“Good-bye and hello, as always.” ― Roger Zelany, The Courts of Chaos
“Parting with friends is a sadness. A place is only a place.” ― Frank Herbert
No doubt subject is very painful and subjective even to write about. We have dared to assemble few poems and stories on the subject in this issue. Hope Lekhni’s readers will enjoy it.
